Wood ID. Cherry in Alaska?

    I was at Thunderbird Falls in Eagle River, Alaska (darn near in bogydave's backyard) when I saw this downer. I am kind of thinking some sort of cherry?
    Do cherry trees grow in Alaska?

    I'm no expert of that area, but from what I could gather it looks like an Alaskan Willow or Pacific Willow

    If it was a larger tree it might be Chinese sumac that is also known as tree of heaven
