This guy cropped up in the backyard about two weeks ago. Hung around for about a week. Seems every time we went outside we were tripping over him. Every morning he was at the same spot in the flowerbed. Except for the summer patchy hair, my Wif thought he was "pretty". Then she found he was eating her Hosta and Clematis. At that point she wanted me to convert him to sausage! We have not seen him for a week (must not like the idea of sausage). Looks a bit stunted on the left antlers.
We see does but no youngsters recently. The general area seems crawling with smaller bucks. This is the first big boy and right in the backyard! Yup.
These are some pictures of what I believe is the same buck. Taken way early this season when antlers were just budding. Same flowerbed, same weak left side antlers. Must like that spot in the yard!
Wouldn't want him around here. My deer would jump the fence if startled, the moose would just go through it!
I have no fences, farm next door has a swampy area.. He went back.. I thought your yard and deer were so much nicer than mine
