Ran out of mortar so the left side isn't quite done, but the worst part has been parged. Yeah, not a professional job, but should protect the cinder blocks for a while.

I have used Ligs before...not a bad pellet.

    Middle of the road quality.

In the Quads they leave a bit more clinker than some.

Coming out of WV they are likely pine.

What makes the difference between THE GOOD..THE BAD..AND THE UGLY when it comes to pellets is how much bark, dirt and other junk is being fed into the mix along with the clean wood.

    Some pellets are just crap...

Since we have been full timing with the Hazelnut shells pellets are scarce around here.

During the deep winter I keep a few bags of Bear Mountain pellets just in case we might need to use the Quad along with the Whitfields.

This past winter I bought 4 bags of Bear Mt and they are still sitting in the family room in the corner.

The shells are just sooooooo much more economical....

Now with the new controllers on the stoves the fires are so easy to tweak and get a better fire and less ash...

We don't have a large choice of brands here.

Bear Mt. & Golden fire are the most common ones.

Winter will see some of the big box stores ship in several that we don't usually see.

So, you mean, basically, that you just dumped the GS pellets in the garden.

I mean, really, they're the same as cow manure, right?

went and picked this up today. a donation to the Zagray Farm Museum.

    john deere on trailer.jpg

we'll probably take the PIA 4 stick backhoe off it and just use it as a chore tractor with its full hydraulic bucket. I took my New Holland loader out there and used it to lift the bucket and help push it on the trailer. mostly lifting the side with the blown tire.

went on easy with the right tools and qualified help.
