Ok, ok i know this is corny, but its Summer and thought we'd have some fun and laughs on this one.
I was at the dump Thursday (no time to go and scrounge for wood, unfortunately) and there are two pairs of wooden shoes sitting by the dumpster. Ordinarily i wouldnt care, but Ms' buZZsaw is half Dutch (Her father was a boy in Holland during the Nazi siege and came to the US after the war) so i took them for her. She was very happy!
The bigger pair actually fit my size 12 feet, it was tight and very uncomfortable after a minute of walking with them on. Cant imagine having them on all day. Maybe no athletes foot, but a splinter every now and then!
Im guessing the wood is poplar based on color and weight. IMG_0774.JPG

I have a pair I wear around the shop on occassion when sitting at the carving bench. I added cushion pads and chiseled out high spots in the arches. They are not bad. I do wear pants though.:zip:

YouTube has a video of a Dutch sawmill powered by a windmill and the sawyer wears them.

Nice. My mother used to have a pair she brought from Belgium (she came over here as a child). I remember trying to walk in them and could not imagine anyone wearing those all day long. Not much insulation in winter either. However, if you got too cold, you could use them to start a small fire to warm yourself.

Good score! Those could be your new wood cutting boots. While not chain-proof, you may have half a second to notice that you’re starting to saw into your foot.
