I had never used or owned one til i joined the forum back in February. Ended up making my own out of a repurposed Fiskars axe handle. Dont use it a lot but makes pulling rounds or splits out of the PU bed a lot easier. Heres the thread Homemade pickaroon with a reclaimed Fiskars handle.
I like the Peavey with a Hume pick. But I’ve used others and each one seems to have a sweet spot. The Council Tool has more of a curve to it that I can’t make set as easily into a chunk of wood. But the hook on it is great for pulling brush around. When I’m handling splits I usually use pulp hooks. One in each hand.
I've got 2 of them both wood handled, and both no name, good tool to have, i use them for unloading my pickup, sure makes it easier for me. Had the grandson helping one time,he's 9. He acted like he was killing snakes, about the 3rd block, i took it away from him, lucky the pickup bed had a plastic liner in it, lol. When he whacked it pretty hard, he looked at me and the look was ''priceless'' lol. I said, well, you'd better give that to ME, ha,ha. But, for me, a really useful tool,
