I had invited mechdesigner87 to get some bucking experience today, but I think he said something about going to the pool with his bride and their kiddos....:salute:
So instead, MarkG, and a non-wood heatin/non-FHC member engineering coworker, and I went to see what a lady in our office had cutdown by a local tree service....

Big pile of tulip (will need bucked and split on site)-

My first ash.... (funny thread about that somewhere’s around here)- MarkG loading some of his first ash... couldn’t hardly get him to let go of it

Just shy of 3 full loads back at mine and Fire Flake ‘s house, 2 rows deep... more to get!

That platform is 13’ from near frame to far. The ash probably died off last summer. So I’ve got a bunch of dead ash to play with...

mechdesigner87 - bring your saw to work with you this week....:D

Ya he is not thinking of all the $ that he will be able to save in the future.  we initial had fuel oil but we haven't had to fill our tank for a few years. Over a winter when it ran it was about $1200/1300.

Somewhat in mechdesigner87 ’s defense, they live in N.C. so not a tremendous heat load in their winters. But always handy to have heat if the power goes out.

No doubt. We also hard wired a generator a few yrs ago to the house. Big freezer in pump room, small chest freezer and fridge in kitchen with extra outlets. That will guarantee I have o2. Then the fire for heat. All good.

Welcome. I use a 271 and really like the saw. It cuts well with the 16" bar and is light so I can use it for hours at a time. I also put a 20" bar on it at times, then it can bog down a bit.

I was wondering how it handled a 20" bar. I may buy an 18" then for it to try out

If you force a stock chainsaw in the cut with any given bar length, it will bog down. I’ve learned this quickly with a 20” bar on my Husky 445. The trade off for extra reach may be a second or so longer in the cut, but less work for my lower back.
