Ok, I learned a lesson today. The pellets I want are a little hard to come by. I did manage to get them but after a little give and take about dates. The place that manufactures the ones I want are still shipping 500 ton/day. Usually not that busy at this time.

That is right. For those of us around here, they are among the lowest priced pellets and are really good pellets. My stove seems to burn anything, but ash levels vary from brand to brand. I am partial to MWP

I bought 2 tons from SIB during the spring buy deal that they are holding for me. I plan on taking delivery after Labor Day.

Just went and put a down payment on 3 tons of pellets at the local TSC. They had a pre-season special at $25 off per ton ($225 final price/ton), put down 25% and pick up by 9/30.

Still have a little over a ton in the basement and will need 1-2 tons more to make it thru the winter.

Ive got 2 ton in the basement and a ton in the garage from last year. I generally like to have 4-5 on hand just in case oil spikes and I go full bore pellet heat instead of mixing but I just may roll the bones this year and use up what Ive got.

Funny you say that, because today I was thinking of only picking up bags as I go, and just burning oil. I used to use three tons a year, and then burn oil if it got real cold. I might do the opposite this year. I might burn a ton.

Even if I decided to go back to propane to heat the main floor, I would still need plenty of pellets for the basement since that is the only heat it has. And my boiler is old, so not very efficient - and FHW piping still goes thru the garage (so really inefficient design), so propane would still cost me more than pellets. $1,400 - $1,600 a year to heat with pellets is still a great deal for me.

I may have figured out a way to store another ton - in the tent garage (makes it cramped for the truck, but doable). So may just go get a ton today from TSC (last day for the $225 price) while they hold the other 3 tons for later.

Scored a nice leaf blower just like the one I currently have for $5

Figured it was good to have a spare.....

Good morning folks. I may be jumping in here from time to time. I picked up a Whitfield Quest yesterday and I gave it a leaf blower clean out this morning. I removed about 2 cups of fines in the hoppah. I have it running out in the driveway trying different settings. It may become a shop heater down the road. The prior owner did not appear to take care of it. It was very dusty behind the back panel and lots of junk blew out with the leaf blower. Wind was in the right directions away from the neighbors. Burn pot is mint aside from a few clinkers. With the air shutter full open, it does the popcorn thing, so I tweaked it back. Heat is blowing out around 450 degrees. Pretty impressive.

Just to let everyone know - I am Jon's sponsor for him to be a hang-around, so if he doesn't perform his duties as a expected let me know and I'll set him straight. I'm hoping he does just fine and becomes a prospect in quick order and then onto full pledge ;)
