All done cutting the log loads and the splitting will commence at 8am tomorrow. Have about 32-35 good size rounds(20-24" in diameter) of Black Cherry I plan on setting aside in one stack after they are split. What kind of seasoning time should I expect from the Black Cherry???? I'm in no rush since all of this is for 2024/25 season.....Just curious though....
There's several on this list that are wayyyyyyyy off BTU wise, but most of the drying times are spot on. That said if you give cherry 12 months, after split and stacked, it will be dry enough to burn in an EPA stove. 20% or under will be ideal. You could check it out with a moisture meter, but you won't need to with 5 years to season. Heck, cut some oak. Even oak will be dry by then.
A year is good. I dont cut much of it, but did score a couple trees late Winter, early Spring. I CSS right away. Could burn it this Winter if needed.
It will be ready August 4th, 2020 at 9:15 PM. Not a minute sooner. Plan B: Stack it in my back yard and I'll let you know how we made out.
