What kind of wood am I?

    It stumped me for a bit.

    My Bark looks not like the common varieties, almost like a white oak such as chiquapin or bur, my leaves are very similar to walnut, but I smell like my common varieties when I am cut. What tree am I?


    I'll post a pic with leaves after a bit.

    Its not oak, or at least any type of oak I've ever cut.

    The grain of the wood looks like Hemlock.

    If it has “common varieties” that likely makes it a fruiting or flowering type, right?

    I guess that is poor wording on my part. I mean species of a certain type i.e. acer saccharum, acer saccharinum, acer nigrum, etc
