WinCo in the Pacific Northwest used to sell lodgepole pine in bundles, correct? I swear to gawd I bought a bundle of XXXX firewood from Oregon at WinCo in Washington state that was lodgepole pine. It looked like the ends of a company that made fence posts or cabins or whatever as they were manufactured.

Any clue in this is appreciated. My friend is killing me.... but he might be right.

Not from the area, but it makes sense they would not throw away their cut offs, especially nice round and clean ones that could be put to good use. Or if they did, some opportunistic hoarder came up with the idea to bundle and sell them,.

I'm not clear about the nature of the disagreement.

Lodgepole is the fast-food of firewood. It dies and dries standing, ready to burn as soon as you fall it. The bark is quite thin and the wood has very little pitch. It is quite popular in my area, mostly for these reasons and because it is one of the only trees available on N.F. land where you can get permits to cut. However, once down, it will absorb moisture quite quickly if not covered.

"Lodgepole pine is excellent for lumber, plywood, and paneling. It is used to make doors, windows and furniture, as well as railway ties, mine props and fence posts."
