One of our neighbors up north works in the industry and mentioned (awhile back) he had plenty of hardwood for the taking. I got in touch with him late this week, asked if he still had fire wood available; and his beer preference. I rolled up this morning on my quad with my gear and a 30 pack for him. I forgot my chaps and helmet down in the flatlands. Since he does a lot of training, he had an extra set of chaps. Always feel better cutting with the right safety equipment. As you can see, plenty of wood to choose from! A few cuts in: Quad, trailer and gear for scale. Not sure if exactly what I have. Maple? Feel free to share your thoughts. Today’s haul is on the right in this pic: Close up shots: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Great machine! Mine is a 2003. I'm having battery issues lately. Charged it up Saturday night...still had the "bzzzzzzzzzz" when I hit the starter Sunday AM. Overall, a very reliable machine. I used to do a lot of riding on the trails 10+ years ago. Now, it operates as our mini tractor. It's very helpful to have. Thanks for the help with the wood ID Horkn! Based on that info, I'm going to guess most of that pile he has is jut about all Maple.
Yeah, maple. I even see some oak in that first picture. Great score. Good on you for giving him something for it.
Thanks guys! I’ll probably make another trip to gather more. He’s looking to thin that pile a bit. Dennis, Let me know what splits are oak. I may be able to get some more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got back at it today. Great day for cutting. MS250 for perspective. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks! It's actually in Southern Vermont; about two hours north of Wallingford. We have a weekend place there.
