Friend at work hooked me up

A friend of mine at work took down an American Holly that was too big and shading his hops (he makes his own beer). I told him when he was ready to take it down to let me know and we'll go after work and take care of it and I'll haul off the wood.

He texts me and says he's got it ready and will bring it to work...he cut it down, cut to length, and brought it to work...what a nice guy! I owe him several lunches.

I burned some American Holly last year and loved it. Perfect for Christmas .

Heck of a friend there! I'd say he earned something better than the dollar menu for lunch.

 

Resurrecting an older thread, but I’m curious about holly, noting the the btu is up there and the seasoning time is quicker then most woods with that density.
Does it split well or Smell nice?
