The bagpipes turned out to be a smoke detector in the basement going kaput. It did a garbled tone today and full alarm for 20 seconds. So, no haunted Scotsman roaming the house. So far...

We lost power at work for an hour yesterday. due to the heat.My laptop worked fine though, and I still was able to work. Our server worked, so I could save and operate pretty much as usual. The WiFi even worked.

Today, was quiet at work. Training the interns is helping me out already.

My big dial thermometer behind the house (east side, under the 3' eave, so in the shade) says it is about 80*. The weather station sensor, which is hanging on the backside of the dial thermometer says it is 91*. Yeah, the sensor is the one that is right. Fortunately humidity is just at 50% at present. supposed to get oppressive tomorrow and Sunday and lows at night are supposed to be in the mid 70's :jaw: (hey, for those in warmer areas, that is hot around here).

Looks like last weekend was a great time to add the 6k BTU window AC to supplement the 10k BTU portable AC that is in my living room. All rooms are 73-75* :dennis:.

Yeah, we had a thermometer that was way off. It was a Mercury filled one. It was a neat beer thermometer, so it ended up being simply a decorative thing.

For the record, I know some of those plastic sweep thermometers are wrong sometimes, but I have three others around the house in various places, "that just happens to be the best one I can read".... But they all were with in a degree of each other. :dennis:

Got some work done today. Used the Kubota L4310 to York Rake the new pasture. Starting to look a lot better. Then used the 310J to pull a couple more stumps and bury some more rocks. Good God, rocks everywhere. A farmers old rock line right through part of it. Then I ate a late lunch and took a nap in the AC. A light dinner and took the family to a small town by the name of Waddington, NY to see a free outdoor concert at the pavilion there. Double Axle does a nice job with a lot of the older Rock and Roll. From The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, CCR, The Doobie Brothers, Eagles, Steely Dan, etc., etc. We are all still enjoying it. Now for a couple days of down time and doing nothing but relaxing at camp.

85* inside right now at 9:30, funny how that's not uncomfortable in the winter. Outside it's down to 69* so waiting for the open windows and fans to do their thing. Sorry for you Hoarders that are in the heat wave areas.

Warm here with a break in the temps. tomorrow. We probably got close to 90, which is very warm for the mountains. Splitting the last of the Osage rounds tomorrow.
Val bought a "Rescue" fly trap 2 day ago and hung it out. That sucker works, probably over an inch of dead flies in the package and more committing suicide at this point. I'll be picking up a few more tomorrow. I walk out and watch it every once and awhile, she thinks I'm fixated on watching flies drown. No, not the case at all.......
Just checking on the "raisins" for cream-of-wheat in the morning. Black bean stew for later tonight. Crunchy taco filling, etc. etc.

At times, it's fun to watch her dry-heave.

Heat index for Saturday and Sunday is 105° to 110°F. Some reports say 115°. This is going to be a stay inside weekend. Maybe we may take a walk in the mall or go see a movie. Sunday's flea market is a no go.

Still stupid hot tonight. I went to my buddy's for his Friday night fire. It was still a great index of 95 at 11pm, with a real temp of 90°.

Storms to the north, but nothing here until maybe overnight and tomorrow.

    It's "cooling off" now. Lol

Good Morning FHC... :coffee: ... Well today I'm getting ready to drain the pool... :hair:...Well a bit to relieve a bit of the pressure... Had a sidewall starting to collapse...... I'm going to try to put a band aid on that side wall and hopefully get that wall reastablished this fall... Darn Pools are fun, but dang its hard to enjoy it when I seem to be constantly working on... But its about 16 years old, so theres that too...

My sympathies for your pool woes. I hope you can get the wall shored up. I need to paint mine this fall. Fun times!

According to my weather station, it was still 80* at midnight here too. Not quite so humid at 74%. This morning the outside dropped to the same temp as inside (74*) so the AC's only got short breaks overnight.
