Really wanted to go get another load off the charred pile this evening but heat & humidity was way too oppressive. Plus I gotta get some chains freshened up first. I guess I should have went back to the shop after supper and done that so I’d be ready

This score keeps getting better!! Talked to the lady this morning about cleaning up. She said just get whatever I want out of it and they will take care of the brush and whatever is left. No cleaning up for me!!! Saweeet!!!

Great news for you. Any less labor in this heat is a plus! Dont know about you, but brush clean up is my least favorite tasks on a full tree score.
I had a tree score back in March and there was minimal brush clean up. One tree was felled so the crown was in the woods and the other right next to the woods...just had to toss it.
What is normal for brush clean up in your area? Is burning legal? Does it get chipped Sandhillbilly ?

It varies for me. Last winter I knocked over a large standing dead elm & a larger ash that was still alive. Both were in town and had to go 67 miles one way and rented a chipper that didn’t work as well as we hoped. Had my wife and the other two guys I work with plus myself. Was a 2 day project. Kinda a pain in the ash. Had to sweep and rake the yard and street. Usually I’m in the country, if there’s snow on the ground, usually pile and burn it. In old shelter belts can get by with making piles that are not gonna be in the way of anything. Yes dealing with the brush is not as fun as running the saws!

I usually keep stuff that is 3” or so and up. Sometimes even a little smaller if it is easy

Sometimes ill haul it to the compost center for brush/logs/leaves etc. The plus being i can scrounge for wood there! I do an occasional pruning/chain saw job. Is that an option for you or do they exist out your way?

Thats a lot of work for a tree score, but as hoarders we do what we hafta do dont we? Hearing that distance i feel guilty scoring wood 5 minutes from home!

I really like it, it is super smooth running. As in no vibration. In this hot weather(90+) it will sometimes be a little balky about hot starts. When I run it a while and get it good and warm then shut it off and let it sit awhile (like maybe 10/15 minutes) it throws a little fit. If you start it right back up in just a couple minutes it’s fine. Don’t recall that sort of behavior in cooler weather last year. Heck when it’s that hot and humid I don’t wanna restart after a 15 minute break. What did you trade to get yours???

In the second photo the base of the stack of big rounds is 12 ft long. I’m not good at guessing yet, but I’ll go with a cord and a half. We’ll see when I get it all split & stacked decently so I can measure it

It’s almost done, got a couple pieces of trim to put up around the edges of the roof. It’s a 1/3 full already with the cedar I cut in my yard a little while back, plus the smaller stuff that didn’t need split from this score. That’s where all of this will go when I get it split. Pretty sure it won’t all fit. Gotta get busy and get the other shed kit put together. But I wanna completely redo my stacking area. It’s kinda embarrassing compared to the ones I see here. Didn’t know you people were gonna cause me so much work. But it’ll be much better when I’m done. I keep learning new things I want to do
