Trying out the$2 dehydrator picked up at a yard sale yesterday.

Thanks. They still make them but with lots of upgrades. My 2 buddy's that help are bugging me for the cushion seats.

 

We had to use a stack of burlap sacks.

 

Hayed for years with my old buddy across the road and I always got the ancient Case tractor.
There was one of these around at all times.

When I was in Korea, it was all done by hand. Extremely labor intensive.

 

It is my favorite kale. The leaves are more robust and firm then the scotch curled or blue kales I grow. It is also called lacinato or "black cabbage" in parts of Europe.

 

I was given 15 winter squash plants in fairly large pots. I think I can make some room. I made room for cucumbers digging sod by hand. Screw that. I tried by loader and didn't have much luck. Maybe if my bucket had teeth. But I do have a smaller bucket. With teeth. So I gave it a shot. No tomatoes were picked and no onions were dug up making another row.


Tedious trying to skim just the sod off, but faster than by hand. Another 200 sq ft of garden in the front yard.

 

I thought this guy was dead because he was on that same spot for two days in a row.

He moved this afternoon some time. The grass must have been greener on the next leaf over.

He's little, about the size of your thumbnail. Tomatillo.

 

Everything ya got is nice and green bill.

The little fella is pretty cool looking.

 

Peas are done. They're quite brown so I yanked them out. Just about all my red swiss chard bolted and it's all next to get yanked out. A couple of tomato plants with some blight and one or two with a little bit of blossom end rot on a tomato or two.

 

Lawn removed, soil prepped, Winter squash planted, mulched, watered, just a little finishing up to do with some sod that was missed on the sides. Maybe try that lasagna mulch trick with some pizza boxes because it is going to be too hot to do any more digging and beating of the sod.

 

Let there be squash! Thanksgiving is coming right up...

 

Kinda late but we might get something. Half of them were a short season bush variety. Good thing because I thought there were 15 and there were 18 so the last ones are two feet apart instead of three feet apart. Cozy butternuts.
