I dealt with the BP MEDS for about a year or so before I got tired of falling down, beating myself up and not able to do chit.

We tried just about all the choices... Vasodilators, Beta blockers, Calcium channel blockers, Calcium channel blockers..... yada yada yada ...

Really did little for the BP, just ruined any reasonable type of existance...

Was on Amlodipine at the last.

Weaned myself off all the crap and tossed the rest in the trash.

Feel far better now without all the chemicals in my system.
I would get sooooo stressed out not being able to do things that my BP would go even higher.

Best plan was simply not to worry about it.

My BP at 18 YO would jump to 160/90 plus if somebody got me wound up.

Once the stress was off the pressure comes back into a reasonable range... sort of.

The drugs did more harm than good....
Worst stuff ever was the Statins...almost killed me.

I could not walk across the room and my legs would be in such pain...
Even 3 years after stopping all the drugs I have not gained back what the drugs robbed from me.

    Never again

Picked up a nice cabinet to go along the wall under my puter screen.

Was a pain in the butt to get it in the room and in place, but lots of places to hide stuff now.

A shot from my comfy command chair
And one from as far back as I can get in the corner behind my chair.

I like oak look cabinets and the simple lines on the drawers and doors (not to mention storage is always great). That is a nice clean counter top too.

    Thanks B
The area in my "Chit hole" was a mess with junk piled up all over and the closet crammed full too.

I had a small square table for the printer and my DVD/CD duplicator...and that was it.

After we got the new screen up on the rack I started thinking about a full cabinet for that wall.

A 6 footer was just the ticket.

This bad boy was an Island from a large laundry room with doors on both sides and the drawers on the one side.

I ran a screw through the doors on the side going against the wall to keep stuff from falling out the back and getting lost in the small space back there.

The only down side is that the cabinet is largely particle board with an Oak laminate on the surface.

The doors and drawer fronts and the front frames are real oak.

    I hate particle board...... :picard:

But cabinets are expensive, and to get the entire giddyup go for $80 and have the exact size needed was a no brainer.

    Gotta love Craig's list....

Having the Key board and the mouse wireless just makes the entire computer experience sooooooo much cleaner and far more handy.

Plop my butt in the command chair, Keyboard in my lap, lean back and get comfy....mouse on my little table right close and life is real good

Has not been that long ago that the table top had a bunch of cables strung all over the place and was just ugly

OH...BTW...Yesssss that is a coffee stained mouse pad :picard:

    Gotta love home improvement... :D

Actually, I meant clean as in not fancified like so many are these days - a more "clean" look. I wasn't commenting on her housekeeping skills :)

I wondered if that was a CL find - yeah, $80 is a great price for all you got and it looks to be in great shape.
    Chupi is such a cutie!

    Chupi thanks you B. ;)5
She is a very big part of our family.
She is a Sphynx...supposed to be hairless, but she has a very short fuzz.

Usually when I'm at the terminal she is on her blanket.....

Right now she is sitting in the kitchen in a shaft of sunlight coming in the skylight warming herself... >^..^<

Yesterday I took the cats in for a checkup (everyone is doing well and healthy), and then took the truck in for the latest recall notice.

When I got home, although not hot, it was very muggy so I started the portable 10k BTU portable A/C that is installed in the living room. For the main part of the living floor, I use a portable A/C during sunny/hot afternoons to keep part of the floor at about 76* (I close off the bedrooms since they aren't required for living). But the office doesn't get good air flow and when I have the overhead light on, and am working on the computer, the temp will still rise to 80*. Once the temp goes down to 76* or lower outside, I turn off the portable A/C, open the doors to the bedrooms, open up windows for the warm air to exhaust, and start the window fans in the bedrooms to cool things off.

Last weekend I picked up a 6k BTU A/C and installed it in the office yesterday afternoon. I started it up and it worked well while I was perusing FHC and FB (and Googling for a bit). This morning, with the window fans going all night, the office was down to 72 (rest of house a little cooler). I turned on the fan only function of the little A/C - and office temp is going down . The cooler I can get my house in the morning, the less A/C I have to use, so this is great! Plus I can set the timer on it for work days so it will shut itself off (I have a window fan that I do the same thing).

    Obligatory picture

Small air conditioner set up in office.jpg

Since that window faces east, and I can't close the heavy curtains, I found some scrap pieces of rigid foam to put in the window to block sunlight from heating the room back up. Those pieces just sit on ledges, so easy on, easy off - and a little bit hillbilly :D

    Sounds good to me.
Re-purposing materials is a good thing.

We have two large bay windows that face west and a sliding glass door that also faces west, and the heat from the afternoon sun is horrible in summer.

I found a roll of silver mylar coated BUBBLE insulation that is about 1/4" thick that works sweet to kill that heat.

Cut the material in lengths that allow it to be hung from COFFEE CUP hooks that are screwed into the upper frame of the window casing behind the venitian blinds.

The bubble material is fairly fragile...so a piece of Gorilla tape folded over the top edge in two places adds a lot of strength.

Poke a hole through the taped areas and add a zip tie to allow the bubble sheets to hang from the cup hooks.

The amount of heat rejection was tremendous....The thermostat for the central air system is on the west end of the house and in the late afternoon the AC would run A LOT...after installing the reflectors the run time was cut by 2/3.

Best part is that after summer is over the reflectors are easily rolled up in one large roll...taped with some green masking tape to keep them secure and put up in the closet until the next summer.

We looked at getting some custom mylar roll down sheets, but the cost was $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ NOOOOO WAY

    B
Glad you got a plan to keep comfy in the hot weather.

We can't open the windows as the screens are not secure enough to keep Chupi from getting out..... She is indoor only creature.

    Save $$$$, re-purpose....make work
