My Grandson Gus wanted to run a saw so we did some cutting. By we, I mean he did the work and I pointed and stayed out of the way. Was fun til the rain came. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's cool! How old is he? I still haven't "offered" my 17 year old son a try on the saw yet. Don't know what is the right age.
Not sure age has much to do with it. Maturity, common sense, reasoning, ability to pay attention. All more important than age. I know a couple guys over 40 that I don’t want to be around when chainsaws are present
He’s 16. He’s been running saws for a couple of years. Competes in forestry competitions and they are big on teaching safety. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Glad he takes an interest in helping his granddad. Tell him he did a great job. Glad you had some help
Usually 17 would be old enough but you have to be the judge on when it is time and he has to show that he will be respectful of the saw. I will say though that at age 17 I had already worked a few years in the woods and was even head sawyer at the mill before my 18th birthday. I had done every job there so it was a natural progression. Sure wish I'd have stayed with it... One of my big mistakes in life.
