Any Idea What This Tree is?

    Looks like cottonwood to me... But I'm not 100% sure as I don't have any here...

    I agree but there is no cotton that comes off the tree. Cottonwoods are common around here - similar leaves but different bark and they get huge.

    Yes linden. Ornamental basswood , poor btu,s , great pollinater tree

    My grandfather used to call basswood "summer wood" I think because it was used in his mom's cookstove in the summer so it would burn up quick.

    Used to know an old Polish mountain man. The Grizzly Adams of Europe type guy.
    I know Linden was his favorite tree. All sorts of medicinal uses.

    Bass and cottonwood leaf look similar. Bass or linden leave mostly look heart shaped. In this case I agree with linden rather than cottonwood. Cut some and save some for whittling as that wood is great for that.
