Had run them both dry when i put them up, so, today i got them both out, and put gas in the 044, checked the bar oil, and lightly primed the carb before i tried it. Choke on, gave it one pull, ''pop'' choke off, one pull, fired right off, it gasped a couple of times when it first picked up the fuel in the line, then i let it warm up and she ran like it had been shut off about 5 min ago. This is after its sat for about 8 months!!

Now, the old 266Xp, she's a bear of a different color, same situation, i had run it out of fuel when i put it up too. So, filled it up, primed it just a bit, choke on, pulled, and pulled, and pulled on it. Choke off, pulled and pulled, THEN, got smart, put the bar/chain on a big block of oak, choke off, full trigger, first pull she lit up like it had just been shut off 5 min ago. Let it warm up a tad, then laid into a big oak block i have just for that purpose, this one's got a full skip square cut chain on it, and it sliced though the old oak like it was warm butter.

The Stihl is totally stock, #1 in reliability, the husky has a muffler mod, and after i did what i should have did the first time, its a beast!! Like them both a lot, both of them have cut a lot of timber and wood. Both are former production saws owned by former cutters. Good old saws and i love using them. Lately i've been using my 262 Stihl and my new Echo 590 , both great saws, but, this was on oak as well in my daughters back yard. Thought the neighbor might not ''appreciate'' the old husky with the muffler mod that much, lol, Next time though, it'll happen, :D

I love the 266 I have, and it starts easier than any of my newer saws. Every 044 I've ever seen in person was pretty much whipped from to much pro- logger use.
