That's a downright legendary motor....and it looks super clean. Nice.

That is a great looking 60 series Brad.
Those 60 series LandCruisers were the ducks nuts when I was growing up, they used to be everywhere. There’s still a few getting around down here. Great old bus, but leaf springs gave them a firm ride and plenty of rattles and squeaks. The 2F in-line 6 drank petrol and gave little power in return but they were bulletproof reliable. The 2H diesel was even slower at only 107 hp and 178 lb•ft torque. Oh the memories of all the 4x4 trips we had back in the 80’s thanks Brad.

I also spent a couple of years sitting above a Toyota 3B Diesel engine in a little Toyota Dyna truck. A good portion of that time with the accelerator pedal pressed firmly against the firewall!

Thinking back they were great fun to drive.

Yep ride was somewhat firm. The old man emu 2.5 inch lift remedied a lot of that though. Yours is much more refined for sure. It had the 13b the DI version of the 3b diesel. It was the non turbo version at around 104 hp. It would literally pull stumps though in 4x4 low. Just ask me how I know.;) I intended to install a turbo and turn it way up, but alas life happened and I turned my attention to raising kids instead. Good memories for sure.

Dad had a BJ74 with the 13B engine, he had an aftermarket turbo fitted and it totally transformed that Cruiser.

Yes the 100 series is like riding on a cloud compared to the earlier models but not as capable off road. The 70 series is probably the best off-road Toyota LandCruiser, Almost as good as a Y60 Nissan GQ Patrol.

If I did the math correctly (I have to convert from metric) 23.5 miles per gallon. Will use more towing.

They are great engines, in fact that’s why I bought it.

My Nissan with a 4.2 Litre intercooled turbo diesel will only get 21 mpg running empty and a few times towing 4 metric tons I have managed to get it down to 12 mpg.

As you can see the Nissan is not as aerodynamic as the Cruiser.
