Holy growth rings!

    10332EBB-CD4D-48A3-A42E-C6DC310ADEC4.jpeg I cut this oak log up today and was very surprised to see how large the growth rings were. Not sure on the type of oak, but it was heavy even for an oak.

    Wow, that was one happy oak. I've never seen 'um that wide either.

    Wow those are massive rings! I love big rounds like that. Lots of nice square blocks to be split out of those rounds.

    Black Oak???
    I only say that because I once checked on a score that the homeowner said was black oak. It had wide rings like that. Also had one oak leaf growing out the trunk so I know it was an oak.

    I was leaning in that direction but it doesnt have a darker center like I’m used to in other pin oak.

    those are some serious growth rings! Miracle grow for trees maybe? Is that your secret to get a lot of wood fast?

    Sometimes water oak will grow really fast and not have much heartwood.

    Simply amazing. I've never seen any oak come close to having growth rings that far apart.
