Kershaw does make some fine knives and you don't have to sell a kidney to buy one either.

I totally agree that Kershaw is a great value. Personally, I've had this double-locking Kershaw for over a decade and it has been a fantastic EDC. 20190621_214111.jpg

Classic knife there! Love the double locks and thumb studs. All in a traditional style!

Just wondering, my curiosity is piqued. Skimmed this thread and not much mention of Cold Steel brand of knives or talk of the s35vn steel they use. I don't have an ounce of hands on with them. Kinda looking at a $90 CS Recon-1 clip point for an edc. It is a bigger edc at 5.3" closed, 9.3" open and something like 5.4 oz. How big is too big for edc in your opinion?

My Kershaw Blur is the absolute maximum for me. 3.375" blade, 7.88 open, 4.5" closed. It begins to inhibit my hand in and out of that pocket (I always clip carry) on some jeans.

I've just recently got used to carrying 3 1/2 inch blades, from 3 inch blades that I normally carried, so I would find that particular model a tad too large, but that's just me so YMMV.

I only have one Cold Steel knife, the American Lawman (in CTS-XHP sometimes referred to as "a stainless d2" steel), so my knowledge of that brand is a little lacking. However, s35vn is a good steel and from what I hear, Cold Steel does a decent heat-treatment of it.

I splurged a bit. My first Benchmade: 940 Osborne. Like it so far. Hope the Benchmades are as good as their reputation. [IMG][IMG]

Awesome! Mine have been. I hear a lot of good things about the S90V too.

Nice. I always wanted a 940-1 but up here they are a little too spendy for my rather humble assets. However, I did grab a 940-1601 from Cabela's when they were on sale so I finally got my CF Benchmade.

Found this on the worldwideweb, i reckon most of you learned how to handle a knife from Dad - so did I.
Still like the idea of this here.

I carry a cheap Gerber "para-frame " folding knife , oh wait . Not sure if it is a knife , chisel or prybar.
It gets abused. Not in love with it so don't mind beating it up and if I loose it I won't loose any sleep over it. Amazing on how much it gets used.

That's what I like about carrying a fairly inexpensive one....I wouldn't cry if I lost it.
