Welcome aboard 1985ew glad to have you here. I'm thinking Tulip/Yellow Poplar also. Good shoulder season wood. Dries fast & makes nice quick heat.
Welcome to the forum 1985ew. Here is some reading you might find interesting: Primer on Woodburning by Backwoods Savage You can either read it online or download it.
I have a pile of tulip poplar hoarded. Since it was my first year trying to get to the three year plan, I figured something that split easily and dried quickly was perfect for me. We’ll see how fast I fly through it when I get to that portion of the stack in cooler weather.. although it is also said to be mixed in with denser woods to get the temperature up quicker for cleaner burning.
Awesome, I drove up to Woodstock in December and grabbed it with my truck and drove it back a 13hr round trip. I should of known this was going to become an addiction that day Hahahah. Ok at the northern point of Montgomery co on the edge of bucks.
Cool let me know how quickly it burns I have some ash for this winter. I’m currently seasoning oak and hickory right now for next winter. I’m as well trying to get the 3 year plan!
OMG did you mean 13 hours??? that has to be a FHC record or something. Last Summer i drove nearly two hours one way across Connecticut to cut a truck full of wood for an aging friend. I came home with a heaping PU full as well...and i thought that was far! Hats off to you 1985ew
Ah man, you didn't get a pick of the flowers. I call it my valentine tree. This the flower off of the tree.
