The strangest thing happened tonight. Our cell phones buzzed with a tornado alert. In southern NJ? A tornado?... really? My wife texted me about it while I was at a meeting to see if I got the alert and I joked with her that there would be wood for me to scrounge. I believe her response was something to the effect of . Long story short, when I got out of the meeting I got another text from my brother in law who lives about 10-15 miles away...... Luckily the oak fell away from his house towards a wooded area and just missed his swing set by about an inch. I called him right away and told him how happy I was that he and his family and his property were ok, on my next breath I told him I will be there this weekend.. do not let anyone touch that tree!!!!!
Glad all is okay and no property was damaged Road-side Oak . Scary when those warning suddenly come thru. We had some tornadoes here in CT on May 15 last year and there is still lots of wood to be had. Happy cutting on father's day!
That's a good size red oak.... Your going to get a lot of wood out of that one! Don't forget to take your camera with you this weekend...
Thanks for all the replies! Well I dropped by this morn. On my way to work and I couldn’t help but get started. Didn’t have my trailer with me but got a jump on the cutting. Main trunk is about 20-22in diameter and about 40 ft long before branching out significantly. Trunk doubles up at about 20 ft as well. It was slow going with my ms250 but I made a dent. For sure didn’t have the smell of fresh cut pin oak judging by last experience with that stuff.
NICE looking firewood! No damage to structures. Brother gets a free cleanup. Everybody benefits, cept maybe the tree!
Nice solid tree, glad it didn't hit any personal property and no one was hurt. Lots of wood in that tree.
Good eye...I didn’t forget about that stump round. There was mud on the bark on the other side and I was trying to keep my chain in good shape as long as possible.
