    Managed another 4 holes tonight. That puts me at 7 out of 12 done. These were easy to dig, beautiful soil. 2 are filing up with water, but some gravel at the base and dry concrete should do fine. The 8th hole, I hit a big rock. Dug around it, used the bar to pry it, nothing. Did this another 3 times before calling it quits at a long day's work. If the weather allows, I'll go at it again tomorrow.


    Another hole dug, plenty of roots!

    Good sized rock been digging around. Will hopefully get it out tomorrow. Pooped!

    Yes, hole #4 was like that. I managed to dig 36" with the phd, and found the boulder sure seemed like it went down another 2 feet using the bar around it, I'd say we're good! A hole along the wood line, near where that big dead Aspen Scotty dropped, I thought for sure I'd hit some big roots but didn't.

    I'll post pictures of the pretty big rock I managed to split in half making it easier to pull up from the hole. I can now continue to post hole dig once this rain stops!

    Let's hope! The rain just forced to to quit that for today. I'd really like to get the last ones done. Hoping to pour the footers Monday and erect posts throughout the week. The weather looks questionable.

    A rare FLAT rock and he breaks it :doh:. Round and oddball shaped rocks are a dime a dozen, but flat rocks should be a protected species :D

    The PhD is a great piece of equipment. I've got 8 holes done in about 3.5 hours. Most the time was spent on figuring out the sweet spot of running it. 2 of the holes were at 50" in 15 minutes! I love it!

    The purchase alone is worth it for these 12 holes. Renting the towable one would've been a bit cheaper, but the second time I've rented it, passing the cost of this unit. I've got other projects I'll use this for, so well with it.
