Got the transplants in today and direct seeded the rest. I usually wait until June 1st, but the 10 day looks good. Here's the only pic I took, when I was done the skies opened up.
Got a little therapy time in with a grandson. This is the field where I ran over at least a 5' rattlesnake last year.
Hauling some nice oak rounds. Then a little bit hauling and grading asphalt millings for a new parking spot.
Probably me new utility trailer. It will also be nice to have extra space to turn around. Our lane is very narrow.
Yes, did the transplants that day as well as direct sow a bunch of stuff. Back then, the 10 day forecast looked primo, but we're gonna get real cold tonight. Keeping fingers crossed we don't lose anything.
Did some wood splitting today. Got one bucket of hickory and one bucket of red oak processed. Hickory (very stringy) Red oak (much more civilized)
Everyone around here (that I know of) just starts cutting at the logs right where they landed off the log truck. So they wouldn't do any log moving at all. You'd need to be pretty careful when cutting, of course...
I tried that an it is a mess. You cut for 5 or 10 minutes, then have to throw rounds out of the way. You also have to watch that the tip of the bar does not hit another log and cause kick back. Then while you are cutting a log could roll on you. I also can't get my log pile close enough to my pile of splits.
