Very tempted... Chvymn99 (Kevin....not sure why that didn't work) made some delicious food on a couple of Traeger Smokers at Backwoods Savage GTG. Been thinking about it since, just as always too broke to buy!! LOL

I got mine earlier this year at Sam's club for $250. had a few problems with it at first, company told me I just needed to ground the temp prob better. Haven't had a problem since. Makes great grilled and smoked food. I use it 3-5 times a week.

I just can't justify getting one for just me - especially since I have not grilled a thing since I moved here over 5 years ago. A couple of weeks ago I put my small gas grill out on the curb since it had just been taking up space in my shed for all that time and I needed the space. Heck, I never even got a propane bottle for that thing (I got thte grill of CL so it didnt' have a bottle)

But, since I always have pellets, maybe I'd use the pellet grill? But storing it, that is a different matter.

    Still want one though!

It's different pellets for cooking food...much mor expensive.

I just got a Traeger, loving it so far, seems very well built.

Don't you need food grade pellets? I heard they were expensive.

I have a Big Horn XL grill ( very similar to the pitboss ) and it works great since I upgraded the controller. I keep mine at our campsite so we use it almost every weekend, Food is always excellent off the grill. Yes cooking pellets are different then heating pellets and more expensive.

Ive owned a MAK 2 star of about 5 years......makes smoking easy, but from a grill standpoint, hard to get a good sear on it.

heres a grill question....after youre done grilling, and you shut off the gas at the tank, if there is a grease fire on your grates, do you put it out, or allow it to burn off the grates and clean them?

I love my charcoal grille for the sear, I guess one could crank the temp up to try an get a sear??

With the charcoal grill, I have it hot hot hot when I first put the steaks on, Once I've flipped. I drop the heat down. I also add some damped wood chips to get some extra smoke flavor.

Don't use gas/propane here! But I always finish the charcoal off with the grill wide open to burn stuff off.

As opposed to cooking over a campfire? Who cares, it's wood. Yes, I live life dangerously ;)

well, sadly, I find after a day of work I dont really have the time to tend a charcoal fire.....just way too easy to fire up the gas and cook a burger for a quick meal. Agreed, the flavor is much better with charcoal, but I have those dang time constraints!

The reason I asked about burning the grease fire on the grates after shutting off the gas is because I had one of those Weber camp grills melt down with a grease fire....the base metal is aluminum.....cant take the heat.....it actually became molten......what a mess
