This small deck of logs was in the same place as my i may not take this thread. Confirmed today i can cut and take it. I prefer to put my efforts into this as its cleaner, mostly red oak, and i can cut it to my size. Two years piled as is. My hoarding friend lives across the street and i have six cord CSS stored there. He said i could put it there. I can CS on site and back PU right to it as well.
I'll call this my mini honey hole. Guessing three cord? Ten minutes from home.

Looks like it was cut with a feller. SERIOUS saw marks!

That pile does look and sound better. How accessible is that though? Be careful of snakes, bees, and spiders as well.

All the guys wood is way up in back of his property. Gravel driveway access. He was an excavating/concrete contractor so all sorts of trade related stuff all over. It borders on power lines. One of the mounds of splits was actually dumped on their side. I can back right up to the pile. Ill split on site too. Looks like an ideal spot for critters. There was a garter snake on one of my stacks yesterday. He took off before i could get the camera.

No I haven’t gotten down that way yet. The big piles just west of Marlborough center are dwindling. Logger must have finally found a place to Bring it.
Maybe I’ll swing by later. Need to head into town anyway. Grab it up if you want it. I’m done collecting for awhile. Some nice scores on FB marketplace but I’m letting them go. It’s all about processing what I have and what’s still laying around the property.

I would be more concerned with snakes and bee/wasp nests.

I've been good. Yeah I got it all done. I'll get some pics up in the next few days of what I got myself into now. You guessed it. Pine! Neighboor had a biggie come down in a storm a few weeks ago and told me he'd pay me 500 to make it look like it was never there. I accepted. I'll have enough pine when I'm done that I could burn nothing but it for two whole seasons. Let them hardwoods marinate I suppose.

After i took the pics i crushed the weeds over in front and explored the pile. No bees or snakes encountered cigarsmokingzombie, BeechNut, jrider . Didnt see any poison ivy either. May weed whack it first. Debating on whether to buck entire pile, then split or buck a tank full of gas then split.

I love doing chain saw jobs. I do a occasional one. Usually get wood out of it too.
I often wonder what a tree service would charge to do the same? Not that im trying to price gouge, but if my finished job is just as good as theirs. Of course they have the equipment and overhead etc.
You keep your wood neat and orderly so burn pine as long as you can. Burn it when you are home and use hardwoods for unattended extended burns? Put hardwoods in shed maybe?

    Snakes?
Had a nice pile of logs all stacked last year. Weeds 4 feet tall all around them. Always tapped the pile once or twice with the trailer before I opened the door and got out LOL

went there today and was going to cut til the 290 ran out of gas. Well i ran out of gas first. Cut n split for a hour and a half in the heat. Weed whacked in front to clear the weeds etc. No snakes, bees, critters or poison ivy. Just some ants under the bark.
