What would be a fair price on a Stihl 441 magnum. He had it running on the second pull

I think, but don't quote me on this, it may depend on which version it is.

They were on the the market for a while, then, Stihl dropped them for some mechanical or design issues. Then, a couple of years later, Stihl brought them back again. Now, with the advent of the 462 I believe they have been dropped from the Stihl line up again.

I had a 'first edition' 441 and never had a problem with it, but I was so unimpressed with the overall performance of it I sold it after a couple of months and bought a 461. The 461 vastly out performed the 441.

Like everything else: der's dem wat loves 'em and dem wat dont love em.:D Do's ya homework and gets a fair learnin' on 'em den buy hit er not.

I have never ran a 441. General consensus on the forums seems to be that the 440,460,461 is a better choice. Of course the saw builders could improve the performance by alot, if you so desired. Where I live people ask 400-600 for used 441.

there is a date stamp on the lower part of the power head handle below the throttle. Month and date. That at least tells you how old it is.

Good compression, starts cold, start hot, loads up without dying out......$300-$400 seems reasonable. 461 will set you back at least $800 and that is a logging show price. I bought a used MS 880 and checked everything I just showed you. I told the guy the saw had to be cold to touch when I got there, started it ran it for a few minutes, cut a block a few times, shut it off, started it right back up. I then shut it off, let it sit for five minutes and restarted and ran it etc. Check the chain though, because if it is dull the saw may seem to bog down etc.

    Just my crappy two cents

If it’s in average to good shape I’d go $500-$600 all day long. I really liked mine till the crank shaft broke off.

If it’s still there I’d run down there and check it out.

Had a 441 stolen out of my truck a few years back. Only Stihl I've ever owned. Never had any problems out of it.
