Well, GA decided to have a heat wave, but this ol' timer knows how to deal with that. Had to cover a shift on my day off, but not gonna let that stop my fun. Got off at 7 PM, headed home to the wood pile. IMG_20190525_192909203.jpg
Used the vertical splitter to "noodle" the big rounds to manageable size, then used the fast cycle to finish them up. IMG_20190525_201543485.jpg
Our plan of attack for this time of year when I'm working days...work lights and fans...keeps the bugs away. Finished up the stack by the splitter about 10:30 last night. IMG_20190525_220532014.jpg

Chaz had taken a quick run down to the house to say hi to his sister T.Jeff Veal but missed her so took this for ya Jeff. There is no yellow on his chaps.

I did make it to the wood pile after that wonderful meal my hunny cooked last night. Got started about 9:00 IMG_20190527_204927147.jpg "Noodled" on this pile for 30 minutes, got a good stack of halves and quarters. IMG_20190527_205948202.jpg Quartering a nice round of hickory. IMG_20190527_211514992.jpg IMG_20190527_213426224.jpg Called it a day about 11:00, had a few pieces left. Made a nice little pile. Only need about 1 1/2 cords, 3 rows to finish the big shed. At it again last night. Cooled off nicely once the sun started going down, maybe 90* we we started @ 8:30, 70's when we quit @10:30...

The stack we started with IMG_20190529_203020154.jpg
My hunny is ready to get started stacking...she has stacked nearly all the wood in this shed. She has done GREAT. IMG_20190529_205032978.jpg Hoped to finish, but we made a good dent in the stack. The stack in the shed is about shoulder high now... IMG_20190529_222337416.jpg

Nice stacking, Miz Carol! I hope that 70° is the start of something good... be nice to have better weather for your days off. How is Mom holding up with the heat?

She's doing fine so far, we haven't been out in the day yet. Looked at the forecast, might drop a few degrees, no rain chance much until next Thursday and only 40% then. We will pack plenty of water and make hay(splits) while the sun shines...hope y'all's weather will clear up and dry out some. I saw some of the video on Outdoors with the Morgan's channel. They live in Western PA. WOW at the rain they got the other day. Y'all be safe.

Cleaned up a blow do for a friend this morning about 5 miles from home.

Nice size oak, over 20" dia. IMG_20190603_084353912.jpg IMG_20190603_084412112.jpg Making some progress IMG_20190603_171333.jpg My friend loaded it for us. IMG_20190603_120348419_HDR.jpg About 3 hrs and 6 bottles of water later, got it done. IMG_20190603_131314500_HDR.jpg IMG_20190603_131405433.jpg Got the whole tree on here, really a bit to much.

was that the same guy who gave you the pile of well seasoned logs? I think you were using the bow bar T.Jeff Veal ?
Nice looking score and nice to have a single trip too.

So do you drive your tractor to where the tree was, or do you load it on your trailer and make two or three trips?

On edit: I see someone else loaded you. But in general, how do you do it? I'm trying to figure a good way to do this.

It all depends on where the tree is. If a mile or so away, I'll drive the tractor. Usually haul the tractor to site, load and haul logs and the go back and get tractor. The honey hole we are going to tomorrow night about 10 miles from home, it's worth it, as we have gotten 6 dump trailer loads so far from there. Should get at least one more.

Thought I had bent the frame today, though. Had 70# air in the bags, it was squatted and the bed was looking funny...:hair:
