There are pictures of so many towns under water. Those poor people. It will take a long time for the water to recede, and the heat will make it nasty.

Just found out the guy who got me into volunteering with Appleseed and another local shooting organization died a couple days ago. Cancer. 41 years old. I talked to him 3 weeks ago and he didn't mention anything. He ran a marathon just a month ago. How fast life changes.

RIP friend. You taught me alot, which in turn has helped many shooters along the way. I'll keep on teaching in your memory.

bocefus78 , yeah he probably didn't say anything because that is so young. He probably didn't want to let the disease define him. Live life as full as you can. You just never know when your last day is

    RIP

I well remember SE Kansas. We've gone through there several times and have yet to see it dry. One night we foolishly camped just for one night. Got 10" of rain....

The tractor arrived yesterday and I got the lawn cut a little high so I could find all the high spots. Only one sapling stump got sheared. I have the mulching kit, and I will say, it leaves little noticeable grass clippings.

My son had trouble with the seat pressure kill switch. When he hit bumps, it would cut out. I was able to roll up a sock and put it on the seat switch for him to sit on, and he is in business. He was dragging out hemlock branches to the pile. The hemlock is huge and taking some time to clean up.

We got after the back open areas. The growth was almost knee high with lots of Virginia creeper and bittersweet vines. One aspen blocked the way back area. I cut that up and he got in and cut the area down. I used loppers for low branches and vines. He just went back and forth cutting everything down.

This area will get a bluebird box along the shaded tree line. There is a nice open field through the trees and water in the swamp.

What a nice property! I'm glad you have a son that will help. Is he happy with the new house? Does he go to a new school now?

He is finishing up the school year at his current one. He is in a small bedroom, which was more likely a former sewing room found in area houses. We have plans to build a new room in a few weeks.

I did a quiet walkaround out back this morning and discovered the red pine stands were planted in rows. It seemed strange that it was all red pines in this one area. I wonder what they were planted for?

The downed aspen I cut up yesterday runs about 40' back into the tangles. I think a cut and drag out would work.

A hen and a following Tom passed through while making coffee. He was all puffed up then scooting around a bit. The large flocks must be on nests now.

A little sore after two hours of cutting up one of the two hedges trees that I knocked down a couple of weeks ago... Got it all bucked up and in a pile... I was stained yellow from all the sappy hedge...:D... and soppin' wet from the humidity yesterday afternoon...Amazing how much water a fellow can go through in a short time... But it felt good run the ol' 576...

Gettin' ready to head back home this morning, to go visit the resting spots of those Loved ones that have past before and to pay my respects... :usa:
