I don’t know if it’s right or wrong, but I like trying to take out the brush in the woodlot. A lot faster after many years now that I have most of the woody stuff and blackberries gone.
This old trimmer is 35 years old and still starts with one pull most of the time.
I ran it almost daily for hours at a time when it was the only one I had and still like using it.
Nice to be working in the shade. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

That's a lot of greenery to take care of. I have more rotted wood and leaf litter on the woods floor. There are a lot of bittersweet vines pulling trees down. Some are too big for loppers and my saw would get tiring.

I'm also trying to remove what is not healthy as far as saplings or ones too close to mature trees.

My Dad started me off many years ago, on how to deal with knocking down large areas of growth like that Reloader ... the walk behind mower. I remember all of the grrrrrraaaaatchhhhh !!! rock and stump strikes... ... but he always got the job done. Later he moved to a rider mower and opened up even more spaces. I've always done the same. Sometimes hard on the mower decks/blades/belts... but does 2 things over time... knocks the growth down easily and levels the ground that's lumpy sod and small woody stumps. And... it's very entertaining for anyone listening for the next rock strike... :hair:.......... ;):D

And here I am wanting more under growth in the woods after takeing down a lot of trees that housed critters.
Caught the dickens for doing that if the Boss/Banker had seen one and remembered it.

I'm wanting to draw the white tail to the area as a sancutary form the if it is brown it is down. I see no reason why a person would kill a little 125 pound live weight deer when they could shoot a big doe or buck.

Bone heads, knot heads, city slickers, jerks and a list of unprintable names for a family site is what I call them.
