I am putting in an Englander 24-acd I got used from my mom. She bought it new in 2001, it has held up well over the years, and appears to be a very well built stove. I am going through it and many of the fire bricks are broken. Here's the thing, they are not the standard size bricks you see at Tractor supply or the hardware store. The sides are 9x4x2.25 (takes 14) The bottom takes 9x4x1.25 (takes 7) I have found them online, but with shipping, it ends up being $250! Anyone run into this and have a better priced source? Go to the Englander website..........www.heatredefined.com...................search around for their store.
Just to follow up, I called around and was advised by one of the stove dealers to check with the local cement block company as they sell them. Sure enough, they had both sizes. The 2 1/4 thick were $3 each The 1 1/4 thick were $2.60 each. They are 4 1/4 wide instead of 4, so I may end up having to cut ones to fit the end spot, but very happy to find them for a good price! I was posting that as a "fall back" option if he didn't find anything. Agreed, their prices are high.
Yeah, I'm guessing they don't sell many at that price! A stove full of brick would cost half as much as the stove! Sent from my SM-S727VL using Tapatalk
