    Splits are pignut hickory Gark. Did they come from the same log in the other photos? Bark looks like different hickory in those.

    I've burned hickory in the smoker and it worked great for ribs.
    Stacked outside the house it stinks wet!

    No, smells like fresh split poplar, but it’s certainly more hard/dense than poplar. Yup, the neighbors are used to seeing Gark out sniffing firewood. Nothing unusual here, move along... heheh.
