Im pretty much done messing with wood until the fall. I have some loads of oak rounds to grab at her grandpops over the summer, but not looking forward to it as its big pieces and wheel barrow only due to being a residential area. I have about 10-11 cords. Almost all of it is white or red oak, or beech... very little cherry or maple mixed in, but some is there. Its also tier’d, some is 1yr, 2yr or 3yr.... You can also see the stack of rounds Im gathering for next year, all red oak, and probably 1.5 cords worth already... its too hot n humid for me to keep going.
Looking good Ejp1234 Nicely done and separated! Is each stack one cord? I would sit on the deck all Summer admiring your hard work! I hear ya about warm weather. More humid around here today and i worked up a good sweat
When the shed starts looking straight, you have had enough to drink. Just busting your chops ejp, great looking stacks! Very organized, wife approved I'm sure! I know mine would be happy to see things so neat. How long will it last you?
Of course, the CSZs invade your wood pile and come out carrying red oak splits while creating white clouds of cigar smoke to conceal their theft. I’ve seen it! Look out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes the sheds not the highest quality lol... 20yds behind is standing water in the swamp. The ground is saturated, always is... footers dont really make a whole lotta difference here. Ive never seen a house with a basement, never... cant be done.
I would enjoy the view during all summer but my hands would tickle to start splitting those rounds! Great work there Ejp1234
I hear you. Water on three sides here - no idea what the builders were thinking in 1850 when they built this place with a fieldstone foundation.. Wife and I joke that the biggest tributary to the river across the road isn't the drainage culvert at the far end of the lot, but the one that runs through our basement in spring! Our home is.. Flexible with the seasons.. ..come to think of it, what the heck were we thinking when we bought it?? We talked about the water some before making an offer, and decided that if it's survived since before the civil war, it'll probably be good for a little longer while we occupy it. Stacking is fun, and spilling water in the winter keeps life interesting.
I had a cigar artist do a custom charcoal print for me a few years back. It’s his interpretation of me and a couple of buddies as zombies. I hope this is worth millions in a 20 years but probably gonna be something you see hanging in a Cracker Barrell Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cool story cigarsmokingzombie So thats been your nickname for years? I was doing some carpentry work at my stepdaughters last summer, prepping their house for the wedding. Her now husband (my step son in law you could say) is in a death metal band and one his bandmates nicknamed me "Buzzsaw Brad" I was introduced at the reception as that!
The plot thickens....my nickname is Monkeybear though that’s a while nother thread. CSZ is what I hope to be when I’m dead, lol. What is the name of your son in laws band? Although, I might want to be a WHZ instead . Maybe I need a custom charcoal pic of a Wood Hoarding Zombie. I assume u have some musical background to go with the buzzzzzz. actually no music background cigarsmokingzombie! just listen to metal and classic rock since high school. Some alternative too, but no other genre's. Step son in law's band is called Cyperna. My stepson is in a band called "Eyes of the Dead". Both play guitar. I like metal but not death metal as it all sounds the same for the most part. I like music i can understand to a certain extent. BTW i did not hear of that band you mentioned.
