After doing Everything by hand for a few years and wearing my back out, I went by the John Deere dealer to have a look-see. I’ve been seriously shopping for a year, comparing and contrasting models and brands; and looking at the available deals for pricing and financing. I was really interested in the John Deere 4052R, with the cab, heat and A/C, stereo and every bell and whistle; but the price was high and the dealer was irritating me with the unwillingness to work on pricing. They have many dealerships in the state and can therefore have somewhat of a “take it or leave it” attitude. Nevertheless, I kept hoping, since it really was what I wanted over the other competitive tractors. As I drove in, I saw a 4052R on the left side of the dealership....the Used side. It looked brand new, save for a little rust and scratches on the underside of the bucket. I went in right as they were closing up to inquire about it- and found out it is a 10 month old 2018 Used unit with only 84 engine hours. It was a local owner, an older guy who retired, likes to play with tractors and likes to keep trading in equipment every year on the next bigger, and uses it to push snow on his driveway. So the tractor has 84 hours, is under full Deere warranty til June of 2020, and got an included powertrain warranty from the dealer that is for 1,000 hours or 10 years. I added a bale spear and pallet forks, and went home to get my trailer. On my return, the Deere jumped right in! I’m stoked. What a difference a year makes in the willingness to deal; and I feel fortunate to go by and find just what I was looking for! I want to say a big thank you to SKEETER McCLUSKEY for his post and updates on his tractor purchase, and for spending some time talking with me. I appreciate it!
It's great when a deal turns out good. It took me a while to read your post because just as I started reading it, a guy texted me that we looked at an Audi he had for sale. We drove it last week but couldn't quite agree on price. While we were haggling, his wife and my wife were talking and getting along very well. Turns out after they got a couple more offers just under ours and they want us to come get it tomorrow. YOUR deal may have been just the lucky omen we needed to get the wife in a new to her Audi... LOL I have tractor envy, Enjoy that JD, it looks sweet.
Someone had brought that one in for service; but I can keep an eye out if you’re in the market for it-
It looks to be a nice one. Thanks for the offer but that would be quite the haul. Has the deere jumped out of its pen & gotten dirty yet?
The Deere has already proven itself handy. There was a 20+ year old hot tub that had been installed in-ground and had been covered up with plywood once it quit working. I had pulled it out and cut it up with a sawzall, but the hole needed to be filled in. I ordered 3 tons of playground sand, and the guys showed up with a dump truck....and a wheelbarrow. After they scooped and wheeled one load around back, I said “I have a tractor...”. What I scooped and took to the back in 6 trips would have probably taken them at least 50. I’m glad I could break it in quickly and I’m sure it’s going to prove to be a big help.
I have a wheel barrow and a tractor. I grab the keys almost every time... Too bad the tractor doesn't fit in the basement or my avatar would be different... LOL
