I was out running errands and drove past a town road crew clearing an area to re-do a sidewalk. Asked if they could leave the wood there and I would stop on my way home to pick it up. Not only did they buck it but they helped load it into the truck. They packed about as much as they could with me having to drive home...

    First load:

After they filled it they asked if I needed more, second load:

That's a fantastic road crew, you must feel great about paying your property taxes! My road crews take the wood and burn it in the outside wood boiler..:(

Thats an awesome score with some nice looking wood @KaptJaq . Looks like NY guys know how to buck the logs the same length. In Connecticut the state guys would watch me struggle to load all the assorted lengths they cut!:picard:

I'm in a small town. Even though I don't know any of the guys personally, they have seen me scrounge wood and know I heat with wood. They rather see it get used for some good than taken to the dump. (And, if I take it from the site, it saves them a trip to the dump and makes their day a little easier .)

Sure isn't Michgan. the land owner gets the wood and about every land owner knows some one that wants the stuff.

I was cleaning up some broken branches in a ladys front yard and a lady next door said she had some wood I could have.
Ever see those bundles of twigs they are carrying in some other country? that is what she had bundles of twigs the trash people won't take any longer.

    That's a nice couple loads.
Give 'em a pack of their favorite beverage and ask if they'll drop at the house next time.
