Very low 30's this morning (back when I got up) as there is a dusting of snow and the rain that had fallen has turned "hardish". Not real bad, just enough to notice it.
Seems like you and Canadian border VT have a lot in common, 3 to 5 inches is normal in his neck of the woods pretty much most of the time.
True enough.. I got to get a pic, it's gorgeous this time of year with the green grass in The Valleys and the white on the mountains..
Rain overnight looks like we got around an inch. Some had much more. Still cloudy and a bit cool but humid and the wind is coming up. The weekend weather looks to be really nice.
White pine and sugar maple shorties partying together to keep the ladies toasty. More cool, damp weather here until Sunday by the looks of it. Glad we switched to indoor burning - it's a struggle to find dry wood lately, but we're still very comfortable inside rather than cutting back on the boiler feedings and thermostat to save wood as we would've been doing this time of year with the owb in service. ...still miss the nuclear showers, though.
We are mired in low to mid forties. No new snow in Mpls area thank goodness, but we got 12-15" of new snow up north a few days ago, right after I got some time in the woods at least. I could not go as deep as I wanted due to deep snow in some places. Burned a bit of wood up there over 3 days with lows in the upper teens to low 20s. More below average temperatures are predicted next week after high of 70 on Saturday.
Drove through a couple areas that had a decent 4" or so of snow today. Yes, the plows were out also, but the temps of the roads aided greatly in melting and preventing the same amount of accumulation on the roads.
44F & partly cloudy overnight before more rain tomorrow. Gloomy predicted till Friday PM then nice for a few days & back to rain & cool. Oak & Locust in the boiler. Who knew I should've put up 10 cord of shoulder wood.
Raining and 39, feels like 34. 65 inside at 5 so we have bricks, pine and some dead standing birch coming up to temperature. Probably keep it going through Friday night according to the forecast. Next couple weeks look like good wood cutting weather if it’s not too wet.
We had another fire this afternoon, so unusual for us. Yes we have cold/cool temps this time of year, but the sun always comes back strong. And there is our heat. This year it has been quite like the first week of April rather than May. Ten days or so of rainy cool weather. I fear we shall go from early spring right into summer. Still got a bunch of wood to C/S/S. I don't want to sweat my butt off doing so.
Despite it not getting over 55ºF outside for the last few days we haven't had to have a fire, but the boiler has been doing a heat cycle around 3AM. Despite the rain and overcast and not seeing the sun or blue sky, there has been enough sun filtering through to raise the temp in the greenhouse to 75-80ºF around mid-day. Just started a pine fire to take the chill out even though it really isn't too cold at 68ºF. Just don't want to hear the boiler again this morning and, well, 72ºF isn't so bad.
