It's not always the pellet stove mfg's being greedy, generally not. It's about how far away the company selling the part is from the source. For example, There is a certain maker of stoves from Canada that is known for very high $$$ for their parts. We did some digging and found that the supplier they were getting their parts from was 4 distributors away from the manufacturer. That's 4 markups, my friends, before you have an OEM part. It's all about $$, lead time and inventory. If you don't mind buying a lot of parts, way before you need them and aren't worried about storing them or tax etc on inventory, you get the best deal. Anything short of that you have to buy with markup and by the time the OEM marks it up...well it's insane. It would blow your mind to see what a Lennox control board costs Lennox, something like $4 but they sell for $300+ because the market will bear it.

Well the production cost for one of the primary BP meds is less than 18 cents per 100 tablets. You need to see the mark up on that sucker.
