Pray for those and there are many. Probably can find it on most any news by now. It looked downright awful.
Yeah, it's a pretty bad one. Probably won't have East bound open until tomorrow at least. Still haven't released the final count on fatalities.
This morning I hear only 4 fatalities but the vehicle count has gone to over 20 with 4 being trucks and the rest cars. Still a mess there.
Very sad. There's a dashcam video from miles before (still in the steep mountain high country) of truck out of control, blows by runaway truck ramps, speculation this is the same truck/driver. Inexperienced driver melting his brakes in the high country? Mechanical brakes problems? 4 people waiting in traffic, gone in the next instant, never knew what was coming or what hit them. Glad to hear Beetle-Kill chime in, that he did not have an errand in Denver that day.
They have determined it was not a mechanical failure so that is why they are charging him and holding him in jail.
4 fatalities, 10 injured, 24 cars, and 4 semi-trucks. West bound is open, East bound is being re-paved due to the fire damaging the highway. The footage of the truck coming down from Genesee completely missed the only run-away truck stop. There is plenty of signage for the truckers, but the driver doesn't speak English so he probably can't read it either. If you miss that run-away area, you're screwed, there isn't another one. He took a chance and people got killed. Fun fact- the same corner that the truck is videoed crossing lanes and almost running a pick up off the road, my former employer wrecked a 5-T truck loaded with steel scrap at the same location. He flipped 50' from the run-away start. Luckily, he was the only one involved or injured.
I saw the YouTube video this morning of the aftermath and it seems sad that it turns into sensaltionalism. The particular video has the person taking it, drive closer to the scene for footage. He even zoomed in on the flaming wreckage where sadly, people have perished. I'm sorry, but have respect for the individuals and families. What people will go through to post death and carnage for clicks and likes. Rant over. Prayers for the families and survivors.
I hadn't heard anything about it, just looked on youtube. So sad, those folks never knew what hit them. Prayers are all that can help now.
