I love internet stalkers. They’re delicious with jam and bread. Besides, I have no other good use for the chains in my basement. Feeling a bit weird today. Must be coming down with a sickness LOL
I split by hand but know my limits bigfrank and its not an ego thing. If its gnarly, knotty, crotchedy, i wont even try and will noodle it or if its an "unsplittable" by hand i wont even scrounge it. The log you pictured would get noodled. I would be sitting next to you watching the guy try to split it, stand and applaud when he did.
Several years ago I was sent to Fort Hunter Ligget for a couple weeks. They had this huge oak beside their "runway" that Marines and Army soldiers would parachute onto to practice taking over an airfield. Why that oak was left so close to the runway and drop zone I never knew. I counted three parachutes that were stuck in that tree. I always felt sorry for the guys that must have landed in that thing. It was a long way climb down out of that tree.
Since I'm originally from that area, I would be that the state or county would not let them take that tree down. I've hunted on Legget before. Interesting place...
A couple of loads from the hoard today. Two, maybe threemore loads and I'll have the small part of it done... New trailer works great too!
About 3-4 cords so far to home. Got about another 1-1.5 cords left in the small part of the hoard left. When I'm done with that part, I'm going to pull off for awhile. It's getting hot here and the rest doesn't have to be off his place until late Fall. Wwas almost 90 degrees here the last two days. Way too hot to work on wood more than a few hours in the morning.
Lived in Fairfield Vacaville area for many years. They say its a different kind of heat no humidity. Like someone said none inside a oven either. Hot is hot but humidity does seem to zap pretty hard. Glad you got so much of that oak bigfrank
I hear ya! I dont like making firewood in the heat. Given the opportunity would you take a score like that again bigfrank ? I agree with you on smaller trees.
If I had the time, and it wasn't too far away, yes, I think I would. Most of it is good wood, There is some punky stuff, but not much. I'll take the smaller stuff anytime though. Headed back down today...
Another load from the hoard. Had some chainsaw problems and couldn't get the rest that I needed to get before the land manager needed it gone. May still get a chance as I was able to get the last of the small part moved out of his way. Here is a pick of the last load I got two days ago. Still lots of wood there that I have access to and it doesn't need to be out of there until late Fall.
frustrating when the saw, or any other power tool, wont work properly bigfrank Nice that you dont have time restrictions.
