I was loading yesterdays score of red oak. The bark was easily coming off the rounds. Found this little guy under the bark of one. Is this an EAB? Had a greenish color? Never seen one in person. Seems to be bug season on the FHC.
Don't know what it is. Can't say I've seen those in any Oak. Maybe someone else can chime in........calling Dennis Backwoods Savage .
It's a penny. Well, the beetle I don't know what they are but we see them all summer long. Never knew them to be a problem with anything except if you pick one up or try to pet it, they will bite. I would not worry about them.
No worries! OMG!!! you guys are too funny! "Cent" (sorry, its a numismatist thing) was for scale. If it was the beginning of an EOB infestation i couldve prevented it. I didnt torch him like i did with the termites!
I started collecting back when I was much younger--back in the early 60's. I wish I had enough money back then so I could have kept more of the silver that was readily available.
have you collected steadily since then Erik B? I was a senior in high school when i got bit by the bug and have had it pretty much since.
I didn't do much when I was in the Army and the first few years of married life. I do seem to spend a bit of cash buying sets from the mint. I bought Silver proof sets for all 5 of our grandkids in the year they were born.
Same here back in the day, haven't done much over the years. I still have a lot of my stuff, mostly silver you used to commonly still find in pocket change when I was kid. Buffalo nickels were still commonly found back then. the good ol' days. My favorites were Ben Franklin halves and Liberty Walking halves. Two of the best coins ever minted!
