No fire here for a couple days, but tomorrow with a high of 50 I think Mrs Papi will light up between school bus runs. Brought in a stove load of miscellaneous shorties - ash, sugar, and a black locust stick that has a big knot that makes it both "short" and "ugly." :)

The old woodchuck performed great in my old homestead for 18 years. IIRC I paid $2100 with shipping . Put 1 set of grates in and several change outs of firebrick. All free wood. Pretty good ROI .
The OWB at this place is a wood glutton. Got some pine , alder and cottonwood saved for shoulder and hot water wood.

A misty 46° here, and I started a fire. These cool mornings, I reload once or twice, and let it burn out. Up into the 60's later, and I will do some splitting. The black flies are just starting, not bad at my place but lots of them at the dump.

Started the stove late yesterday. It was out sometime during the night but still nice in the house. Probably have another one tonight. Have to bring some more wood to the porch. Funny that the last time I just filled the bucket on the FEL but not overfull. Figured there would be more than enough. Wrong! Will need quite a bit of wood yet this week and early next week, at least for nights. Still seeing snow in the forecast for the weekend.

Little brisk here today, some white pine choochin along, House at 76. Like Savage, looks like a full week of at least evening fires coming along. 50/30 for highs and lows. At least Easter was warm enough to let mini-me take her time hunting eggs outside. :)

I haven't burned in ten days or more. We're done for the season, We have actually been sleeping with the bedroom windows open an inch or two. We wear sweat shirts or sweaters, in my wife's case, in this weather. When we wake, it is up and at em' for yard and garden work while it is still good and cool.

Temp in low 50's and it did not get any colder than that overnight. Glad I did not put wood in the stove before I hit the sack. We did get a little rain but not much. Friend 50 miles east said he got an inch of rain overnight.

Supposed to hit 30 by about 6 tomorrow morning, so I might have a small fire then.

Very cold wind here today. May just sit tight in the house; at least its dry and sunny. Windy, but dry and sunny!

48ºF all day. Rain, showers, cold, blah.
Three pine fires and brought in another basket of pine, because this should be it for this year.
This is the LAST day of burning wood in the wood stove.
I'm not bringing in any more wood.

Unless it's freaking cold like this again.

Haven't had a fire in awhile, but low 40's with wind & rain, I came home to a chilly house. Small fire in the oakleaf will do the trick!
