That's what I expected from that blend, I'm thinking there coming from one of the mills in new york vs west Virginia for the Appalachian blend that's why I tried them as I swore I'd never burn green supreme again
I was thinking they might be from the NEWP mill in Jaffrey, NH or the Maine Choice mill in Strong, ME.
So I just installed a quadrafire cb1200 in my basement over the weekend. I have an xxv on the 1st floor but it’s hard to do any testing in that. So last night I threw in a bag of okie Douglas fir to see how they burn. I was very pleased with the heat but even more impressed with the ash or lack there of. I let a bag burn thru and when I got home today cleaned down the inside of the stove and saved the ash so I can compare to other Pellets. Seriously there is next to nothing left of ash. I did notice the ash is on the darker side. So I now have in the stove a bag of the GS lignetics and they too are kicking awesome heat. I remembered I had this Klein multi meter that measures temp so I placed it inside the grill in front of the air flow and about 2” away from any metal. Stove is set to medium and fan on high. Average temps were hovering around 200 and topped out at 210. Ash is much lighter in color than the okies.
Thanks TPD.picked it up for $200. Stripped it down and repainted it. Replaced every gasket in it for about $150 and it’s burning like a champ
Nice job....good price too....and thanks for the info on the pellets as I was doubting the results I was getting ....though I'm burning a blend of vermonts and cubex tonight
Finally got around to making a trip to that Agway store on Rt44. $7.99 a bag. Ouch. Won’t be buying or trying at that price
wow.. pictures of OLD Okanagan firs.... kinda like seeing old pictures of your 1st love with a tear in your eye...
Picked these up today. 22 bags of Barefoot and 79 bags of Geneva Hardwood. $3 a bag and just 2 miles from me too
