Local FHC authorities are searching for any tips that would assist in aprehending the wood-be-bandit or bandits. Here is a pic of the most recent crime scene. There appear to have been no witnesses at any of the numerous scenes in the area all Winter and so far this Spring. There are two local suspects so far. This is Harley. Age 10 months. Known aliases: Harlz, Harley-Quinn, Harley Davidson. She has often been seen in the area, and sometimes chewing evidence. But she is never witnessed acquiring the stolen wood. It is thought that she is part of a wood hoarding network. Warning, this network possibly has international connections. The other local suspect is Goldie. Age 10 months. Known aliases: Goldschlager, Goldie-Locks, Gold-dust. It is thought that this is only a local cell of the international network of wood-be-thieves. Be on the lookout for possible active or sleeper cells (dog napping) in your area. It is unknown what the motive is behind the series of heists. One possiblity is that the network is funded by misinformed members of the green party that are against all wood burning practices, no matter how responsible or seasoned. Another theory is that this is a grass roots K9 lead effort to liberate any and all sticks from a death by fire. Any leads, or additional suspects would be greatly appreciated.
Love the post. If not the dog pack, what about wood hoarding zombies? They frequent my area. Even zombies need to stay warm. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
my porch.. And the culprits My Sheppard best doggie friend an English chocolate lab that lives for wood!! And water and snacks!!
You can add my three to the list. They're well known around here as wood bandits and mulch producers. One of 'em was just caught with evidence. The remainder of this past winter's evidence is scattered about the property. I'll retrieve it soon-ish and return it to it's proper place.......in the stacks.
That brings back memories. My yellow lab was a master thief and always seemed to know which piece to take to topple the pile. When we first moved onto the place I would throw rocks out of the garden plot into the woods and no matter how long it took, she would find them and bring them back. We have a 140# Shepard. He has access to the wood pile. He only grabs wood when we are out stacking. I think, he thinks, he's actually helping. He makes a pile on the far side of his run.
Great post Stlshrk Ours likes to do the same. I often distract her with a piece of bark, she'll run around with it, roll on it, and toss it around for about 10 minutes.
Ruger and Casper (our male Lab) must be related. I swear I spend almost as much time picking up splits from the yard as I do splitting the splits.
The Chocolate Lab in my avatar was a wood thief until in got him trained. He would bring wood from the trailer to me at the stack on command for a biscuit. I miss that dog!
