She finally busted and I wanted to try something new

Trusty 8lb broke after many a cord but had a nice piece of white to make a new handle first time I ever tried. Filled the head with fibergalss epoxy .. hope it holds. Don't wanna use it now. Lol

I just didn't want to buy a new maul I like the head on this unit. It's very balanced and has a nice broad split edge. .my father in law gave me another maul but the handle is far back towards the rear of the head and also is much more slender making it "sink" in the split rather focus the energy outward from the strike point. You know what I mean?

 

I got you. It earned it's new handle. Love tools that are worth keeping alive.

 

Looks good and looks like it should work well for you. I think it is pretty cool when you make your own and use it.

 

Why is it that Gramps old 8 lb splitting maul work so much better than the new ones

 

Very nice job on the handle but I'm afraid you missed a perfect opportunity/reason to go out & spend $1000+ for a handle attached to a hydraulic log splitter.

 

Hey I asked but the lady said I already have 2 to swing that one. Lol
