Little by little, will have all this stacked by Memorial day easy. No need to do it all in a weekend.
That's how I do it. Snow finally down far enough to get some logs bucked. Did 2 8' Spruce the first day........lots of branch nubs, and 5 the 2nd day. Might go back out today.
I don't know yet, things are a little to scattered to guess, but including everything that isn't split yet, I believe I have enough to fill the woodshed again, which can hold 16 or 17 cords, depending how it is stacked. That is just what is already on the property, I have a rather large oak next door I still need to drop, and maybe a dozen or so ash and assorted trees in the 12-16 inch trunk range I need to go after before summer too. A full woodshed for me can support my house and my mothers for 2 years as long as I don't steal from it for the garage burner.
Yeah, we talked about doing the rest at only 2-3 wide, but my uncle has been doing most of the stacking, and he doesn't remember much, so who knows. He works on it whenever, and I am happy with it just being off the ground.
My family moved out here in 1976, and started heating with wood pretty early on I think. I was born in 1977. The collection of equipment grows, and very few things ever leave. The original 1975 model 1614 economy tractor even sits in one of the outbuildings, perhaps one day it will be brought out of retirement, but I have to refurb the building it is in first.
I would not worry about that. I've stacked in 10 rows or more tight together and had no problems at all. Normally I'll stack in rows of 3 though.
Thanks. Between my mothers property and mine, we have about 7 acres. It's a bit of a handful to mow sometimes, but it is nice to have the space to play. First thing I did when I bought my house next to hers was drive the tractor through the fence in a few spots.
The longest part of the pile I just paced off at 36 feet, but it starts at 6 wide, tapers to 3 half way down, then 2 and 1 pretty quickly.
One day at a time. Looking good. Hopefully my schedule will straighten out soon and I can get busy like you are.
