I don't know why you Mass. folks are so worried about trapping mice. We don't bother with them around these parts, it takes too many to make a meal.
I get a chuckle from the Mass laws. A few years ago a relative had beaver damage to his blueberry bushes which grew well near the shore of his pond. The State wouldn’t allow trapping, but instead issued a permit to shoot as many as he wanted. So, they sink, and no pelts.
Thanks, Woodsman. The state told me since the brook is on State land, they will provide the trapper for me. I’m just waiting now to hear from the biologist and see what happens next.
unfortunately the furs have little value at the moment ,they go up and down a few years ago they were way up ,yes the laws are silly people used to pay a fee ( licence ) to trap the state made a few dollars and in turn people made a few dollars catching fur , they also enjoyed the outdoors ,managed wildlife and helped people who did not trap ,now we have coyote problems ,fox problems ,rat problems ,deer problems ,it goes on and on and now the state actually pays people to hunt/trap problem animals ,maybe after a few more pets are killed and children are bitten we can go back to doing things a little smarter ,trapping done correctly is not crewel thats just what the antis want you to think.
9mm executed this one as I saw him in the aforementioned culvert.. Friend came to get for fur... 40 lb. Size 13 shoe
They're working like crazy across from our farm. Pic of damage (2nd pic) is in the right side of the pic (snowy pic) from the time I got stuck this past winter. The actual dam is about 100yrds north (right) of the red mark on the right side of top pic.
Sooner or later, I knew I’d get dragged into this one.... Only reason I saw this was I’m taking a 5 minute break from a ration of work.
In all seriousness, I do not kill animals for enjoyment. I especially hate killing in spring, when females are pregnant. The culvert is a hard place to remove debris. Food is limited, and if they dam it causing driveway to flood 5,000 to fix.
Honestly they taste quite good. Sort of like guess what? Beef. I have had the 4 legged type before. Wild Game Recipes | Beaver Recipes I didn't care at all for the tail. Throw it away. Very fatty.
