Looks a lot like the Bradford pear I chopped up. According to the resources, 2-yr to cure and good heat output, but the depare rages about it’s culinary applications.
I keep my out for the sections w/out too many branches as it is fun to hand split.

Thanks all. I saw the word locust and orange color and thought maybe, just maybe it’s Osage.
Hard/sugar maple is a great firewood I see. Unless it was orange someone else can have it tho. I have enough to keep me busy for,,,,,,,,ever.
It’s in Durham Brad if you want it. I know your full up too :) not a bad way to be.

Was that on CL jo191145 ? Thanks for thinking of me Joe.
I have my honey hole score (This Score Could be Epic!) to start working on 5 minutes from me. Guy said go ahead and cut but i havent asked landlord if he would let 2-3 triaxle loads be dumped here. If so id find a way to do that.
Had to go to Hamden this morning and passed Asplundh cutting along 15 South...a few truck fulls of premium roadkill to be had.
I still have a score to finish in Wallingford...mebbe two truck fulls of red oak. Geez,:hair:i enjoy hoarding wood but the floodgates have opened! Maybe it was bad that i joined FHC?...nah, best thing ive done in years!

    Facebook marketplace. Better than CL.
Yes the floodgates are definitely wide open in Ct. lately. Shame really so many trees dying off. Gypsy moths devestated the oaks and the EAB just hit my area. Few more years and the forests around me will look like a Cat 5 hurricane swept through.
Took a ride down Rt 196 Friday. Crazy stuff. The electric company has gone through there three times now trimming out the dead trees. Smart.
Now the state went through and clear cut everything back 75-100 feet. Big machine that spits the entire tree back into the clearing.
Now why do that? At least let the utilities know your gonna do it. Remember that next time you get your electric bill :)

I rent so electric is included jo191145 and before that i lived in Wallingford, which generated its own electricity (unique to the state) so the bill was a lot cheaper. From a wood hoarder standpoint its blasphemy to chip trees , but from theirs its cost effective
Are you near lake Pocatapaug? I did a couple roofs out there a few years back

What irks me is the power company invested so much time, effort and money into culling the dead trees and the state decides to clear cut all the healthy trees behind them. One or the other would be sufficient. Now we pay for both. If they worked/planned together it would save a good chunk of change. Negotiate funding between the two. Not a fan of entities that waste money just because it’s not their wallet.
Which makes me wonder how a state in such a budget crisis can afford to just clear cut all the highways all of a sudden. It’s never happened in my lifetime before that I can remember. Rant off :)

North of the lake. Northernmost house in East Hampton to be exact.

Trying to be nice here. No pitchforks, no torches, no climbing to the top of a building with a long black case. This is my nice zone LOL

Grab all the sugar maple you can. Split, repeat as necessary.

    There's your therapy.
