answered a Craigslist as early this morning for “free wood”. Ad claimed it was all “premium” hardwood. Yeah right, I’ve seen this scam before, get there and it’s willow and poplar or something like that. It’s only 10 miles from my house so I figure I’ll take a ride. Show up and the homeowner shows me the trees, SCORE! There’s a pin oak, honey locust and a Norway maple all close enough to drive right up to. Got two nice loads. First one is oak/locust and second one is all locust. There was one other hoarder there and we helped each other out. He took two trailers full. There’s still a lot of wood, going to try and go back Tuesday morning.

Yeah, definitely. Homeowner said it sounded like a dirty bike. The other hoarded had a 066 with 32” bar. So we were definitely making some noise.

My truck fully loaded is about 1.5 face cord, brought two loads home yesterday. I’d say there’s another 6 truck loads there. So around 4 cords. The other hoarder probably took 3 cords on his trailer in two loads. The next loads will get dropped off at my dads place. I have no room left and he’s out of wood so it works out nicely.
Went back and grabbed two more loads today. One all oak and one all Norway. There’s still locust in the back but I offered to mill a piece of that and give a nice slab to the homeowner, he was pretty excited and wants to help in the process. I’m excited also, heard honey locust makes some gorgeous lumber. The other hoarder never came back or I would of told him about the forum for sure.
